Through the Eyes of a Baby

I arrived home from my weekly grocery shopping and lugged my bags to kitchen from the garage.  With bags on hand as I opened the door...expecting to hear a baby either crying or babbling,  I hear nothing...dead silence.  I looked around the house and just remembered Mr. Techie and my Prince went out to have some Father and Son time.  I slowly unpacked all the groceries and walked around the house.  It felt a little empty with out the cries and laughter of a baby...Okay..it felt REALLY empty...and a little weird like a huge part of my life just disappeared.  It's been a while since I experienced this type of silence.. going home to an empty house.

Realizing I have some time to myself...I wondered what I should do? Should I do some laundry, organize my son's dresser, or even start dinner...better yet take a short nap?? Instead, I decided on a great topic to write about for my blog...Through the Eyes of a Baby.  I can just randomly take pics around the house from the view point of my son.  Basically what he sees when he's at home, besides his mommy and daddy.  I wanted to see and understand how he sees the world around him...so I started clicking away with my camera.

First up is his Fisher-price Rainforest Musical Gym.  He can be in this Gym for at least an hour without complaining.  He's like in his own little world.

Colorful butterflies he tries to grab
This is what he see's when he lays on his back.  Wow! The gym looks so much fun from the view of a baby right?  All the colorful butterflies and dangling toys...it DOES make you want to reach for them.  He loves grabbing for the red parrot as well, guess it's the vibrant red that catches his eye.

The Red Parrot he loves to grab with his hands and feet!  Yes I said FEET!
This is what he sees while doing tummy time!  The coffee table looks mighty big as well as the floor pillow. My son currently loves to be on his tummy and tries to be on his tummy every chance he gets.  If you look back a month ago, he detested tummy time with all his might, and he made sure you knew it! Tummy time was a nightmare for Mr. Techie and me.

One thing he absolutely loves is his Fisher-price Rainforest Jumparoo so I took pics of it as well. It's quite a setup he has..no wonder why he loves it!

What my Prince sees as he goes into the Rainforest jumper
All the wonderful sights and sounds as he plays on the jumparoo, now I know why he is always happy when he's jumping! Not only does he love to jump on the jumparoo, he also loves to spin around to explore all the cool and colorful toys around him.  Note from the picture below we taped the blue elephant.  There was a lot of reviews saying their child's hands getting caught between the elephant and the green rim which often left their child crying from the pain as well as a red bruise.  We didn't want this to happen so we ended up taping the blue elephant so he wouldn't be able to turn it.
He loves spinning the spinner non stop.

This is his view of the couch as I carry him so I can sit and watch HGTV or Food Network while he sits on mommy's lap.

Pillows my son loves to lay on.  My mom made the paisley one!

At times he loves to sit in between the pillows rather than mommy's lap..it looks rather comfy. Pillows DO make any place more comfy and welcoming even through the eyes of a baby!

I thenwalked into the dining room and took shots of his Fisher-price feeding chair.

Another view of my son's feeding chair

This is his view straight across when he sits on his feeding chair.  He's been curious about his two furry sisters lately..now I know why!  They look like moving stuff animals!  Can you see one of the cats in the pic below?

Front view from my son's seat

My son also loves the stove, especially when the sun shines through our skylight window in the kitchen.  The stove looks nice & shiny which he finds sooo appealing.

Our room is where my son loves to hang out.  He loves spending time with mommy and daddy on the bed cuddling with us in the early mornings. Again..the pillows!  He loves pillows!!  Of course we never leave him alone on the bed..but he loves to grab the pillows and crawl towards them!

Daddy and Mommy's bed

He also loves to stare at the ceiling light of our bedroom. Sometimes he goes in a trance just staring at it that I find myself calling him just to get his attention.

As I took this picture, I heard the garage door open, and a baby's laugh can be heard.  My Prince and his Daddy were back from their Father and Son outing.   I was happy to hear them..happy to know they are back home... happy to be hearing the sounds of a baby.

Training to sleep through the night

So my son is now 6 months old...why am I waking up every 3 hours??!!
No, my son is not waking me up.  It's actually my own biological clock that is waking me up every 3 hours.  After months of waking up every 3 hours, my body has gotten used to this new form of sleeping pattern.  So what do I find myself doing during the night ?? Pumping and blogging.

I have been trying hard to train myself NOT to wake up every 3 hours at night and to only wake up when my son needs me...but at last everything I have done so far hasn't worked.  I even tired myself hoping to get more than 3 hours sleep...but that left me only feeling cranky the next day.  Is this what my son went through when he was waking up 3 hours...trying to be trained to sleep through the night?

My son is now sleeping 5 hrs through the night, so he just wakes up once for night feeding.  A lot of parents I know are surprised to learn he only started sleeping 5 hrs a couple weeks ago.  We would listen to endless advice on how to train your baby to sleep through the night and tried most of them for weeks...to only fail.  So after the last try, my husband told me to just let nature take it's course and eventually his body will learn sleeping longer hours means feeling less crankier and more happier.  Sure enough... it worked!  So I decided to do the same thing for myself.  We will see how long my body will take to go back to my old sleeping pattern.

Tick Tock

Time is something that doesn't exist anymore once you have a baby.  Your whole life revolves around them and usually the only time you get to rest is when you sleep!  My schedule goes something like this during a typical weekday:

6:30AM - Wake up and get ready for work.  Pack up all the baby food for today.
My  bed
7:00AM -  Get Cupcake ready.  Change her diaper, change her clothes, comb her hair.  Feed her a bottle of formula and bowl of fruit with oatmeal.

Cupcake's breakfast:  homemade baby food, baby oatmeal cereal, baby formula
7:30 AM - Call my mom and tell her I am on my way (It takes about 40 minutes to get to her house)

My cell phone.

8:10 AM - Finally arrive at my mom's house and drop off Cupcake along with all of her baby supplies.
Cupcake's baby bag.  I use a regular backpack.
8:20 AM - Get to work
Photo from Honda website.  Seriously, this is my car...or bus. Same color.
11:30 AM - Drive back home

Another photo from Honda website.  My interior is this color.

12:00 PM -  Feed the dog her lunch and take her out to play and potty.
Our dog.  Great gal!

1:00 PM - Give dog Pupperoni after she does her "business".  Leave to go back to work
My van also has a rear view camera.  Without it I probably wouldn't be able to drive one.

1:30 PM - Arrive back at work.  I usually eat at my desk while I work if I didn't eat while I was at home.

6:00 PM - Leave work and pick up Cupcake

6:15 PM - Arrive at my mom's house.  Talk to my mom and ask her how her day went.  Leave for home.

6:45 PM -  Arrive at home, greet the dog.  Feed the dog dinner while I put Cupcake on the "Around We Go" playcenter.  Prepare bath for Cupcake and set out everything for Cupcake's bath time (new diaper, new clothes, massage oil, lotion, etc.) while dog is eating.  After our dog eats, I take her outside along with Cupcake.  We finally go back inside after the dog goes potty.  I give dog a treat.

7:00 PM - Hubby arrives home and starts cooking while I take Leia to the bathroom for a bath.   Bath time probably only is 10-15 minutes....that includes massage, the bath itself, drying, applying lotion, and dressing her up.
I use the Fisher-Price Aquarium Bathtub.

7:30 PM - Feed cupcake bottle of Formula

Cupcake's Bottle

8:00 PM- Get ready for bedtime while hubby cleans up kitchen and washes dishes.

8:30 - 9:00 PM - Cupcake finally falls asleep!

9:00 PM- 11:00 PM Clean the house and make baby food for tomorrow (if needed).   Hubby takes dog out for a walk.  Prepare things for next day and see items which need to be done.    If I still have time, I blog. Otherwise, I shower and sleep.

Itzy Ritzy

I recently got my Snack Happened and Wet Happened bags from Itzy Ritzy that I bought through OpenSky from Project Nursery! I absolutely LOVE them!  I bought the Urban Jungle Blue for my son and Licorice Swirl for myself.  The Snack Happened bags are not only reusable and washable, but they are also FDA approved & BPA Free!  The fabric is made from 100% cotton and is lined with thick and lush PVC-Free waterproof lining.  The Snack bags are 7" x 7" and are machine washable.  They can be used to carry snacks, fruit, sandwiches, cell phone cords, lotions, toiletries...the list goes on and on.  Kids and adults can use them!

Use them to carry snacks.
Use them to carry baby stuff
Use them to carry lotions or sunglasses
The Wet Happened bags are bigger than the snack bags which allow you to carry diapers, swimwear, clothes, and the list goes on.  These bags will not wick even with the wettest items and are machine washable!  The Wet Happened bags come in two sizes:
  • Medium 11” x 14” holds 4-6 cloth diapers
  • Large 14” x 17” holds 6-8 cloth diapers
I got the 11" x 14" Wet bags, again in Urban Jungle Blue and Licorice Swirl.  I love the Urban Jungle Blue print, so cute and adorable!  I placed a few of my son's gear in the bag and took some pictures of the wet bag!  There's still plenty of room for more stuff!

Wet Bag filled with my son's "stuff"

one onesies, 3 diapers, a burp cloth, and cotton wipe
